Team & Leadership Development
Want to develop - and reward - those oh-so-important team and leadership skills of the people in your organization? Pegasus is your answer! Our program is experientially based in the tradition of ropes and outward bound - except that we use horses. We don't ride. Our horses serve as a problem to be solved, interference in the process of problem-solving, and as uncannily accurate mirrors of human emotion and behavior.

Why horses? Because they are living, breathing beings who have a social structure similar to humans, communicate with each other and us, and challenge us to view to the world differently because they are prey animals and we are predators. Teams interact with the horses in the indoor arena at our facility near Appleton*. Skilled facilitators guide teams through problem situations designed to address issues and stimulate growth. Our horses are gentle and often comical. Even people who are afraid of horses quickly become comfortable. The Pegasus Approach is theoretically sound and data driven. Our trainings consistently yield statistically significant differences in our pre/post survey scores. Participants' evaluation of their learning reflect improvement in: problem-solving, creativity, communication, conflict resolution, leadership and follower-ship, diversity versus conformity, assertiveness and power struggles.
Typical responses:
I always believed that I thought 'out of the box' but I really don't. I impose barriers that don't need to be there. How much I wanted to be the boss and how hard it is to be the boss. How to communicate with a horse and my team. How when we work together we really are more successful. Having a vision is important but sometimes things can and should get in the way of that vision. That it is sometimes easier to do something myself but I can't do everything myself. If you share the same goals a lot of the conflict goes away - then its just about how to get there.
Time spent together at Pegasus is engaging and filled with laughter. It simultaneously develops and rewards your team. Trainings are reasonably priced for 1/2 day, full day and even overnight retreats. We will work with you to develop identify your specific needs/issues. Call or email to schedule a session ( held year-round) or for more information. I am also available for complimentary presentations (about 30 minutes) with pictures, short video clips and specific research results. For further review see the article An Equine-Assisted Model for Developing Effective Leadership in the John Ben Shepperd Journal of Practical Leadership. *Or, if you are out of area, we can arrange training at a local facility.
